AI FOR YOUR CAREER / LESSON 5

Build a portfolio that proves your value

You do not need to be a designer to have a portfolio. An operations map, training guide, research summary, or analysis can show how you think and work.

Career evidence: real experience, a work sample, a clear story.

Work through the steps

  1. Choose one problem relevant to a target employer. Use public, fictional, or authorized material and define a small deliverable you can finish.
  2. Write the case study before designing it: problem, constraints, your role, decisions, artifact, checks, and outcome. Distinguish actual results from expected benefits.
  3. Use Claude Design for a visual draft or Figma for layout and refinement. In Figma Make, start with your case-study content and describe the projects, about, and contact sections. Replace placeholder claims and imagery.
  4. Test the portfolio on a phone, check links and reading order, and ask a peer to explain your contribution after one minute. Publish through your chosen platform and test the public link while signed out. JobCoach’s exported portfolio file is not automatically hosted.

Turn this verified project record into a portfolio case study. Keep problem, constraints, my contribution, decisions, artifact, validation, and actual outcome distinct. Mark simulated work as a practice project and describe AI assistance accurately. Suggest a simple accessible layout with captions. Do not invent clients, testimonials, metrics, or results.
